WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT US

FAQ
- 01
The short answer is “it depends,” but most refinishing projects take 4–7 days from start to finish. Several variables can extend the timeline: larger homes, extensive repairs, furniture removals, custom staining, or specialty enhancements all add time to the process. Once we complete an in-home evaluation, we’ll provide a precise schedule tailored to your space.
- 02
Some homeowners can stay in the home during the project if they have access to essential amenities without walking on the floor. Once we begin the final sanding, no foot traffic is allowed to prevent contamination of the raw wood and to ensure the highest level of craftsmanship.
You can typically resume normal use of the floor 24–72 hours after the final coat, depending on the finish selected.
Most clients choose temporary alternative accommodations so we can work efficiently and deliver exceptional results. Every home is unique, and staying on-site may not always be feasible. If needed, we’ll coordinate access between coats. For convenience, consider staying with friends, family, or at a nearby hotel for a few days.
- 03
Before we begin refinishing, the work area must be completely cleared. Please remove all furniture, appliances, electronics, toilets, pedestal sinks, and interior doors from the spaces being treated. Wall-mounted items like pictures, mirrors, and breakables should also be taken down, as our equipment generates vibrations that could cause them to fall.
Every home is unique—many clients simply relocate items to unused rooms, basements, or garages. If that’s not feasible, we can recommend a trusted moving company and suggest renting a temporary storage pod for your driveway or off-site storage.
As flooring specialists, we do not move contents or disconnect/reconnect gas, electrical, or plumbing lines for appliances or fixtures. However, we can coordinate certified professionals to handle these tasks and include the cost in your invoice for seamless scheduling.

The health and safety of our team and clients is our top priority. That’s why we invest in state-of-the-art equipment and use premium, eco-friendly products to maintain excellent indoor air quality. Our dustless sanding system captures 98% of dust with integrated HEPA-filter vacuums. We apply only low-VOC, green-certified stains, oils, and finishes. You may notice a faint scent immediately after application, but it dissipates quickly.

Yes, we can perform spot repairs and match them to the rest of your finished floor, though the closeness of the match depends on several factors. When we refinish a floor, we maintain a detailed record of the exact sanding process and products used, allowing us to achieve a precise match for any future repairs. For repairs on existing floors where we lack this information, we’ll do our best to replicate the color and sheen, but we cannot guarantee a 100% perfect match. Older floors, in particular, naturally patina over time—darkening, ambering, or yellowing due to light exposure and age. This is an organic change, not a fixed color, making an exact replication challenging. We evaluate each floor on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us to discuss your specific situation and explore your options.
- 06
The number of times your engineered hardwood can be refinished depends on the thickness of its wear layer.
We offer premium engineered floors with a 3–6 mm wear layer, allowing 2–4 refinishes before replacement is needed. Unfortunately, many “one-life” floors on the market have a veneer too thin to refinish even once.
In most cases, we can assess refinishing potential from a few clear photos of a board. Send us pictures, and we’ll gladly evaluate your floor and advise you on the best path forward!

Yes. To properly sand and finish the floor, baseboards or quarter-round must be removed.
We offer a complete removal and reinstallation service: we carefully remove, number, and bundle each piece, then reinstall them once the floor is finished. While we take every precaution, very old or brittle trim may occasionally break, and minor paint touch-ups are often needed after reinstallation. Rest assured, we handle the process with the utmost care.
- 08
It depends on the severity of the stain. In most cases, water or pet stains—and any resulting cupping—can be fully removed through sanding.
However, if the stain has penetrated deeply into the wood fibers, we may recommend replacing the affected boards for a flawless result.
For floors with widespread staining, applying a darker stain is an effective way to beautifully mask imperfections while enhancing the overall look. We’ll assess your floor in person and guide you toward the best solution.

After the initial sanding pass, we trowel-fill the entire floor with a premium water-based filler to close gaps and small imperfections.
Wood is a natural material that expands and contracts with seasonal changes. Keeping indoor humidity around the ideal 45% RH minimizes movement and helps preserve the fill.
Over time, filler may compress and occasionally “walk out” between boards—simply clean the area if this occurs. On older floors prone to significant movement, we often recommend skipping the fill during refinishing for the most durable, long-term result.
